CWP Career Impact

In one sentence, what has CWP meant to you?

CWP meant holding myself to a higher standard than others where holding themselves to in college, and it still means the same thing to me now. Not only did I learn more about business than I thought ever possible, but I learned a lot more about life. I met some of my best friends in the program, guys that will be at my wedding when I am older.

How did your CWP experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?

CWP gave me the resume experience to apply for non-entry level positions. While my college peers are putting in their time now, I already got ahead of the game while I was in college by completing the CWP internship. My understanding of profitability, motivation, and customer service also goes a long way within my office and I often get recognized for it. I learned all of it from CWP.

What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CWP experience?

I can't say enough about the life and business lessons I gained from College Works. CWP gave me the resume experience to apply for non-entry level positions out of college. While my college peers were putting in their time after graduation to gain initial experience, I got ahead of the game while I was in college by completing the CWP internship. My understanding of profitability, sales, and customer service also go a long way within my office and I often get recognized for it. I learned all of it from CWP. The greatest lesson I learned from CWP was to hold yourself to a higher level than others and to surround yourself around the best people you possibly can. Its one lesson in the same, you become the average of the 5 people you spend the most time around, and when no one is looking - what are you doing? You need to always be looking to better yourself, and surround yourself by those people that will help and encourage that.

Advice

What advice do you have for potential CWP participants? Current CWP participants?

Work your hardest now so you can graduate and find your dream job. You either put in the work now, or you work an entry level job after you graduate.

What's your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?

Understand that in the technology industries you have to be adaptable and always open to learn new things because the industry moves so fast as new technology emerges. Also, do the college works internship and everything will seem like a breeze from there on out.

What's your favorite memory from CWP?

I am sure that there is one that I am not thinking of but when I painted my last house for the summer, I finally saw the light at the end of the tunnel.
