Industry: Music

Brief Description of Duties / Responsibilities

Design and develop server software and mobile applications.

What Has Been Your Proudest Accomplishment Post-CWP?

Built a large-scale iPhone app and published it in the app store, and won the UC Bearcat Launchpad competition for most promising student-run startup. I've since shut down the app, and joined a more-promising startup in the Brandery's class of 2014.

CWP Career Impact

In one sentence, what has CWP meant to you?

CWP helped me learn that I have what it takes to start a company.

How did your CWP experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?

CWP helped me know that I wanted to be an entrepreneur. It gave me valuable experience in working hard, management, sales, and dealing with problems. Immediately after graduation, I joined a start-up because I didn't want to work in a typical corporate job.

What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CWP experience?

Perseverance. Things get hard, no matter how good you are you will have problems, but you can recover by just persevering and not giving up.

Advice

What advice do you have for potential CWP participants? Current CWP participants?

Be ready to work hard. You'll work really hard, and a lot of it won't be fun work, and you might not be as successful as you hope. If you work really hard knowing it's only temporary, you'll be satisfied with the end result.

What's your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?

Start building things as early as possible. Work on a big project, it'll force you to learn a lot more than just doing little exercises like you'll do in classes.
