Brief Description of Duties / Responsibilities

I run my own financial services practice with Northwestern Mutual. I work with business owners, families, and single professionals in an effort to help them achieve financial security. I help my clients accumulate wealth while also manage risk, creating a holistic financial plan for retirement.

What Has Been Your Proudest Accomplishment Post-CWP?

Getting asked to become a LEAD member and join the management team for a Fortune 114 company at the age of 24.

CWP Career Impact

In one sentence, what has CWP meant to you?

If you're willing to work harder than everyone you know for one summer in college, you will land the career of a lifetime after you graduate.

How did your CWP experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?

Immediately. Running at business in college was the foundation to running my own business after college. The skills I acquired from college works transferred perfectly into the financial services industry.

What do you want to tell your clients about what it meant to work with them and how it has helped you get to where you are today?

Tom and Chris Lione. These gentlemen had a beautiful home which was a pleasure to paint. They were the type of clients that had lunch, gatorades, etc for us every day and had a nice thank you gift after we were done painting their home. They have become clients of mine through my Financial Planning business and still are my favorite clients.

What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CWP experience?

Always look out for the best interest of your clients and do what you say you're going to do- FOLLOW THROUGH. Credibility and integrity are huge when you're an entrepreneur. You will lose your credibility quicker than you can ever imagine if you don't follow execute on promises to clients.

How has the friendships and networks you built during CWP affected you?

I became friends with people I would never have considered hanging out with through this internship. You will build long lasting friendships with people who went through the same experience you did. There is a large amount of mutual respect through those friendships.

If you had to come up with an one line slogan for CWP, what would it be? :)

As I said above: Most internships develop work through people, College Works develops people through work.

Advice

What advice do you have for potential CWP participants? Current CWP participants?

Think like a business person. Take the time to post and plan every day, stay organized, and WORK HARD. This internship The hands on experience of running a business will change you from a boy to a man, girl to a woman.

Many college students struggle to choose between an internship specific to their target industry or doing CWP. What advice would you give them on this subject if they wanted to enter your career field?

Most internships will be a great name on your resume and get you that interview, but won't give you the skills to talk about in an interview. Most internships develop work through people, while college works develops people through work.

What's your best advice for someone interested in entering your career field?

There are three qualities you need to have to be successful in this field: 1) Coach-able 2) Hard working 3) Resilient

What's your favorite memory from CWP?

I knocked on a door to try to set up an estimate and received a pleasant one finger gesture from the man behind his glass door. I smiled, went on to my next door, and ended up setting an estimate. That estimate ultimately lead to my largest and most pleasant client.

Last words of wisdom

Entrepreneurs spend a few years (or a summer) of their life like most people WON'T, so they can live the rest of their life like most people CAN'T.
