CWP Career Impact
In one sentence, what has CWP meant to you?
An excellent opportunity to develop and apply critical business skills, as well as providing distinction for me personally as I move forward into the job market.
How did your CWP experience impact your career? Immediately after graduation? Now?
It has provided me with the tools and confidence to go forth into the business field, and a sense of accomplishment which manifests itself in my day-to-day operations. Additionally, I've received specific attention from potential employers already because of my time spent with CWP, as many businesses understand and appreciate the internship as a tremendous thing for any student to be a part of.
What was the greatest lesson you learned from your CWP experience?
A total development of the sense of resiliency: to never give up, to never stop learning, to never settle for mediocrity. To push myself and those I'm involved with to achieve more than was originally thought possible.
Advice
What advice do you have for potential CWP participants? Current CWP participants?
Don't look at this internship as a sprint; rather, develop the marathon mindset. Keep putting one foot in front of the other, focus on what you need to develop right now to continue your success, and trust in your GM/DM team to help you get to where you want to be.
What's your favorite memory from CWP?
Production season- I was fortunate enough to select, train and retain an excellent crew. Spending my summer with them going over game plans for delivering superior paint jobs to the delight of my clientele was a special time that I'll always look back on fondly.
Last words of wisdom
Buy into the program, it is truly designed to set you up for success while pushing you to do what it takes to get there. Develop a great relationship with your GM/DM, they always have your interests at heart and want to see you succeed. Put in the hours, this is your business. Realize your Branch Manager hat never comes off, and learn how to leverage that to make your business grow.
